ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge 2008 Spectator Package

May 16th to 24th, 2008 Broken Hill, NSW

Australia's longest and most rugged 4wd competition
Mud, sand, rocks and vast outback terrain
8 days of extreme offroading action

Want a really different 4wd holiday? Why not travel into the New South Wales Outback and catch the world's best four wheel drivers compete for 8 days in the ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge.

You get to travel on private property, only open for this event. There are great bush camping locations in the sandy country near Menindee or on the banks of the Darling river system. Our base camp for spectators is the delightful Penrose Park Camp in Historical Silverton. Here you will find toilets, showers and even some cabin or bunkhouse style accommodation.

Our guides or Spectator leaders as we know them are either experienced competitors or locals from the Broken Hill region so come with a wealth of knowledge. Spectators get up close to the action and also have the opportunity through their spectator leaders to chat to the competitors.

You can either sit on the sidelines and catch all the action - or if you wish, sit under a shady tree and read a book while the kids enjoy the Australian bush.

And don't forget you will be helping to support the local outback region just by visiting!

New Structure

The ARB Warn Outback Challenge has been running since 1999 and as a test of man and machine is considered the toughest and most spectacular Australian 4wd event. Come along and cheer on your favorite entrants, or just sit back and watch the world's best off roaders in the company of other travellers.

Spectators have been part of the event since 2001 and as a way of improving their experience we have come up with a new structure.

Competitors will head out to their competition areas on Sunday night as per previous years. This year two teams will head east and tackle the mud and the sand over the two days. One team at the mud, the other at the sand, swapping over on Monday night. The other two teams will head North-West of Broken Hill and tackle rocks and the cliffs of the original and the best Cliffhanger. These teams will also swap over of Monday night.

Wednesday all teams will head to the HQ area and compete on the one property.

Thursday and Friday they will head to the competition areas they have not yet competed on, ie East goes West and West goes East. Saturday competitors will again compete together, this time after receiving their scores thus far.

This structure is great for spectators.

Many people have requested either day or half week packages so we are now offering more ways to catch the action.
