What sort of skills do teams require?
- Drivers need to be able to drive or winch near vertical walls and descend similar terrain.
- Drive and navigate treacherous cross country areas where there are no roads or towns for many miles.
- Show excellent mechanical, first aid, orienteering and general knowledge skills.
- Need to be proficient and safe in all winching and recovery skills.
What challenges will I be up against?
The challenges you face as a competitor go way beyond that of the special stages. Sure there will be seemingly bottomless mudholes, long arduous traverses through boulder strewn gorges and steep sand dunes. But have you ever dangled off the end of your winch cable vertically while your navigator instructs you with the recovery? It's awesome! You cannot see anything as you stay seated in the vehicle and rely soley on your warn winch and the ability of your navigator while the clock ticks on.
