ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge 2008
16th to 24th May, 2008
Event Details
The ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge is a highly popular 4wd event which since it's inception in 1999 has grown to be one of the toughest in the world. Each year in May more than 120 competitors from Australia and overseas put their highly modified four wheel drives through more than 20 special stages over nine days competing in Australia's premier four wheel drive event.
Unlike other four wheel drive events in Australia, the special stages at the ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge are extensive, creating a true test of endurance and skill for all teams, which have included international teams from; Malaysia, France, England, Scotland, New Zealand, The United States, Alaska and South Africa.
The infamous ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge will once again be held outside Broken Hill, May 16th through to 24th and it promises to be more thrilling than ever.
The ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge is a test of man and machine and takes in the spectacular country outside the NSW town of Broken Hill. The event has been running since 1999 and is considered to be the toughest and most spectacular four wheel drive event in Australia. In fact participants who complete the arduous event are admired by four wheelers world-wide.
Participants will have their vehicles scrutineered and receive a briefing on Friday 16th May. The action starts from here and the first couple of stages will be held close to the Broken Hill township after which teams will be split into groups and head for the special stage (SS) competition areas for the next six days. Ending with a presentation dinner.
Participants must be members of the Cross Country Driver Association (CCDA). Membership is $40 per calendar year.
Two Classes
Vehicles defined in the Vehicle Regulations as Trophy and Challenge Class are eligible to compete.
The event organisers will be using the CCDA vehicle class specifications which were in place at December 2007. That is changes made after that date will not be implemented in the 2008 event.
Check our supplementary rules for full details as we do have some additional requirements/allowances which are different from the basic Cross Country Driver's Association rules.
Also note the positions on the vehicles which are to be used for car number identification and sponsor stickers. The rest of the vehicle is available for your own decals. Click here to view a diagram of sticker placement.
Changes to the vehicle must not compromise the vehicles roadworthiness.
